Casa Uno

Your exclusive and private home in the heart of Andalucía

Albondigas

All food fans understand the concept of Tapas, and they are a great and simple accompaniment to a glass of wine or beer whilst sitting at a bar.

The concept of Tapas is that they are a “small plate” a taste and not a meal in itself. It is important that you differentiate between bars that offer tapas and those that only offer Raciones – which are a much larger portions and possibly too much for one person (or a couple) to eat.

However, there is nothing better than creating your own Tapas afternoon, where you have a slow graze with your family and friends in the seclusion of your own private holiday villa. The Casa Uno kitchen will have everything you need. All you need now are some tasty, easy to cook, recipes. Don’t worry we are sharing some of our favourite Tapas recipes for you to try for yourself.

Albondigas (meatballs in a spicy tomato sauce)

This is a great tasty dish, best served with a few chips, some crisps or a slice of crusty bread.

Ingredients

Meatballs:

250g (4) pork sausages skinned

400g lean mince

1/2 teaspoon dried chilli flakes

1 crushed garlic clove

1/2 large onion finely chopped

Olive oil for frying

Sauce:

2 tblsp olive oil for frying

1 small red pepper finely diced

1/2 teaspoon paprika (ideally smoked paprika)

700g passata

1/2 large onion finely chopped

Make your own Albondegas

Preheat the oven to 190*C.

Mix the sausage meat, mince, chilli flakes, garlic and onion in a bowl (with your hands is best!).

Season with salt and pepper.

Roll the mixture into walnut sized balls and fry till brown in a little olive oil. They don’t have to cook through as they are going in the oven shortly.

Also you may need to fry the meatballs in 2 batches.

Once browned, place the meatballs in an ovenproof dish and set to one side.

Meanwhile put the olive oil for the sauce in a frying pan.

Fry the chopped onion, red pepper and paprika for 2-3 minutes.

Add the passata, and bring to boil and cook 3 mins.

Pour sauce over the meatballs in the oven proof dish and cook uncovered 30-35 mins, turning meatballs once.

Serve with a bottle of Ribera del Duero
